Hello! Thank you for coming here to my new blog, Gina Going Grey. I fired up the blog again because I’ve entered a very new phase of my life – post-career – and I want to share a bit about the experiences I’m having and how it feels to be on this side of the fence. I know more people out of the office now than I do people in the office and I hope that sharing my experiences and thoughts will resonate with them. For folks still back at the office, maybe it’s a little look-see at what life might be like after work.
Prior to retirement I put in some solid decades designing learning experiences and materials for the Federal Reserve System. It was challenging and rewarding and gave me the chance to really go deep in the type of work I loved dearly – helping others build their creativity and curiosity around technology and what they could do with it.
Outside of work, my personal interests are in creative pursuits as well. This is why I thought the move from work would be like entering a warm bath. Was I mistaken! More like a shock of water, but almost a year in, I’m getting more comfortable with the temperature.
I do hope to write in this space about some meaningful way in which I can use the skills I acquired at work to possible support my community with volunteerism, but I’m not there yet. I also want to use this space to share my experiences trying to finally make space for some of the artistic pursuits I’ve pushed aside during my work years.
My current list of interests which you’ll be hearing more off I hope are travel (of course), painting, acting, mastering a musical instrument (uke, piano, guitar or voice maybe). I’ll also talk a bit about just the journey of getting more comfortable in this new phase and the real work that resides here too!
Cheers! Gina
