Hello! I’m Gina – an illustrator working under cloudy skies up in the Pacific Northwest. While I never made it to a proper art school, I have attended an art school of my own making. Over many years I have enjoyed and learned from workshops, retreats, artist groups and volunteering in places where I am surrounded by amazing art and talented artists. I can see now that this was the right path because it has allowed me to shift the curriculum as my own craft matures and morphs.
Having said this – could I have used a color theory class a little earlier in life? Yes.
My house, which I share with my partner, Bryan, is 100 years old. Its original owner was a photographer and some time after that, it was owned by a writer. I think there’s energy here that is conducive to art – both here in this house and here in Portland.
Currently I am working on a series of scarves that depict places I love in the Pacific Northwest. I may expand that to be just places I love period. I recently spent some time on the Great Lakes and there’s a lot that inspired me there.
I just go where the energy takes me. That probably all I needed to say about what I do! 🙂
